About Us
Who We Are
The Future Economists Institute (FEI) is a student-led, nonpartisan research institution open to young economists aged 16–19 across the UK. We produce rigorous economic research, policy analysis, and intellectual commentary, led entirely by students, for the world.
Our Mission
Economic Understanding. Policy Impact.
We exist to prove that age is no barrier to serious economic thinking. Our mission is threefold: to produce research that meets the standards of professional think tanks; to develop the next generation of economists, policymakers, and communicators; and to enrich public debate on economic issues that affect everyone.
We are proudly nonpartisan. We do not advocate for any political party or ideology. Our researchers are encouraged to follow evidence wherever it leads, to engage honestly with empirical uncertainty, and to disagree respectfully with one another and with established consensus.
Our researchers are 16–19 year olds from across the UK, united by a passion for economics and a commitment to rigorous, evidence-based thinking.

What We Stand For
Our Values
Rigour
We hold our research to the highest standards. Every paper undergoes internal review before publication, and we engage seriously with evidence, counterarguments, and methodological limitations.
Independence
We are proudly nonpartisan. Our analysis follows the evidence, not political agendas. We welcome researchers of all economic persuasions and encourage genuine intellectual debate.
Inclusivity
Economics has historically lacked diversity. We are committed to lowering barriers to entry for young economists from all backgrounds, schools, and identities.
Impact
We don't write research to gather dust. We aim for our work to inform real policy debates, contribute to public discourse, and demonstrate what students can achieve.
Collaboration
Our best work happens when researchers challenge each other. We foster a culture of constructive disagreement, peer feedback, and collective improvement.
Innovation
We explore new methodologies, tackle underexplored questions, and are not afraid to challenge consensus. Student think tanks have the freedom to be genuinely original.
