Get involved

Three ways in: join as a researcher, submit a piece of writing, or follow the work. All three are open to anyone aged 16 to 19 in the UK.

01 · Join the team

Become a researcher

Join one of our teams and contribute to working papers, policy briefs and articles. Expect editing, challenge, and your name on published work. No prior experience required, just evidence you can think and write.

Editor / WriterEdit research papers, write articles and commentary.
Events OrganiserPlan and run debates, lectures, workshops, and the Investment Challenge.
CommunicationsManage social media, the website, and FEI's external communications.

How applications work

01Apply online. A short form plus one writing sample on any economic question.
02A short conversation. Thirty minutes with two current researchers about your sample and interests.
03Join a programme. You are matched to a research area and paired with an editor for your first piece.

02 · Submit writing

Publish without joining

You do not need to be a member to publish with us. Send an op-ed, analysis piece or full paper. Every submission gets a response and editorial feedback, accepted or not.

What we accept

AnalysisEvidence-based examination of a question, policy or trend
Op-edA clearly argued opinion piece with a specific thesis
CommentBrief, timely commentary on a current development
Research paperFull referenced paper, reviewed before publication

All submissions must be original work not published elsewhere. Use Harvard referencing. Charts welcome, send the data alongside any figures. After submitting, email your full manuscript to [email protected].
